Your routine dental checkup at Flemington Dental Arts includes a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and other oral tissues to look for signs of cavities, periodontal disease, and oral cancers. If Dr. Guy M. Bennett finds a problem, he will help you understand your treatment options.

Sometimes a cavity can develop on one of your teeth during the six month span between dental checkups. If the signs and symptoms go undetected or ignored the area of tooth decay can spread to compromise a significant amount of tooth enamel.

If too much dental matter has been lost for Dr. Guy M. Bennett to repair the tooth with a dental filling, he might recommend treating the tooth with a dental crown. This will completely replace the tooth enamel layer with an alternate dental material.

After Dr. Guy M. Bennett numbs the tooth he will use a drill to remove the tooth enamel layer. Dr. Guy M. Bennett will then create an impression of the abutment and the surrounding teeth. This will be sent to a dental lab where special dental technicians will create your new dental crown.

You will need to return to Dr. Guy M. Bennett’s dental office when your dental crown is ready. Then he will cement it in place with a strong dental adhesive.

If you have a cavity on one of your teeth and you live in the Flemington, New Jersey area, you should call 908-788-1661 to seek treatment at Flemington Dental Arts.
