Dental anxiety is a real problem that many people suffer with and it needs to be treated—just like any other dental problem does. So, to help you finally feel more calm, comfortable, and relaxed in the dental chair, our Flemington Dental Arts dental team has some tips and tricks for you. Those are:

Talk to the Dentist

Make sure Drs. Guy Bennett and Christina Lee know how you feel in the dental chair. If you tell them, they will be able to determine the best course of action to help and manage your dental anxiety. This will greatly improve your dental experience.

Bring Music

Music tends to relax a lot of people, so we recommend bringing an iPod or CD player with you when you come in for your appointment. Bring music that will ease your mind and calm your spirit. We also recommend bringing music you have never heard before. That way you will focus more on the music than on the dental treatment.

Discuss Dental Sedation

Dental sedation can help you more than you might realize. Dentists offer it to their patients to provide a calm and relaxing dental experience. Drs. Guy Bennett and Christina Lee may recommend our nitrous oxide treatment. Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is a type of sedation dentistry used to help patients relax and feel comfortable while receiving their dental care.

Determine a “stop” signal

Stop signals will help you have control over the treatment. So, determine what it will be before your treatment starts. The signal can be anything from raising your hand, making a coughing sound, or blinking three times. When we see your signal, we will stop the treatment for as long as you need.

Drs. Guy Bennett and Christina Lee care for you and your smile, and we also want you to have the best dental experience possible. So, if you have any recommendations on how to make our dental office a more welcoming, comfortable, and relaxing place, please call 908-788-1661 and let us know. We will be happy to hear any suggestions you have!
